With their combined knowledge of interior furnishings and passion for building strong relationships, the furniture store Team can be your guide to selecting the perfect pieces and décor for your spaces.
Here, we get to know the team, what sets Collective apart from other furniture stores, and how we help customers with a wide range of aesthetic preferences.
What lead you to a creative career, ultimately at Collective Design Group? My career began in Austin, Texas where I designed accessories for an ethical fashion company and worked with a local, urban farm to repurpose dried florals for event spaces. I have a love for ethical, sustainable living, and creating spaces that speak to the heart. I also enjoy creating comfortable atmospheres, which I now get to apply every day in the furniture store.
What sets Collective apart from other furniture stores and firms in Colorado?
We have the unique ability to showcase custom items that have been hand-selected by our talented team of designers. We source one-of-a-kind pieces and have a large range of styles and price points on the floor or for special order. We’d love to walk you through the furniture store and help you choose the perfect pieces for your home. If you’re looking for a larger scope of project, Collective also offers architecture and full-service interior design for new home builds, remodels and more.
What do you like best about your line of work?
I love working with people and it brings me so much joy to see someone enthusiastic and eager to change up their spaces. Not only do I love building a relationship with our clients in the furniture store, but I also love knowing that I have helped bring an added sense of comfort to their home.
What’s your favorite aspect of design?
The versatility! I love making bold choices: utilizing color, texture, and art pieces. These mediums are all great ways for clients to create a space that is timeless, but uniquely theirs. I also love the ability to bring my background in floral design to our furniture store customers. I create custom faux floral arrangements that allow clients to bring a fresh – but long-lasting – pop of color into their homes.
How did you know you wanted to get into the world of interior design? My career in design started in the world of theater, as opposed to interiors. I designed and painted sets for the stage and fell in love with the process of working with different mediums and techniques to create a unique and functional space for the actors and audience. I realized I wanted to learn more about the world of interior design where I could continue to create interesting, stylish, and functional design concepts with individual clients.
How important is relationship when designing a client’s home?
Relationships are everything. I always strive to have an open and optimistic relationship with every person that comes into the furniture store.
How do you help clients whose design aesthetic might not be like yours?
Every designer should be open to working with different design aesthetics. I’m here as a guide, to offer up my expertise and suggestions, while making sure the overall design is exclusive to the client’s style.
What does a successful project mean to you?
A happy client and a new friendship. I do my best to encompass every detail, expand on my client’s preferences, and help create the most aesthetic and functional design for their space.
What inspired you to pursue a career in design? After sitting in my first college design class, I quickly realized that design was much more than just a career or a major. The way that I was taught design was not just an analytical approach, but a way of life. My idea of learning quickly went from focusing on a correct answer on a test, to problem solving and arriving at a solution in my own unique way. Once I could identify with that, I knew I was on the right career path.
How would you describe your role as a Design Consultant?
It is my job as a design consultant to take clients wants and needs for their space and present the solution in a way which they relate to and love.
What should a space encompass?
A space should reflect the client’s personality, aesthetic, and day-to-day lifestyle.
What’s your favorite aspect of design?
The ever-changing nature of the industry. Design reflects the world, trends, culture, and world events, making our job as designers one that constantly evolves.
